Heute, am Morgen des Dienstags, den 23.Juli 2024, habe ich zunächst einmal verschlafen, also gab's zum Frühstück nur eine Banane. 

Danach ging’s dann auch schon sofort los, mit dem Bus zu den Headquarters der UCC(United Church of Christ), wo wir deren Präsidentin Dr. Karen Georgia A. Thompson kennenlernten. Frau Thompson erzählte uns von ihrem Weg von Pfarrerin zu Präsidentin und wie der Hauptsitz der UCC von New York nach Cleveland wanderte. Der ursprüngliche Standort der Zentrale war nämlich in New York, doch da die UCC sich in Cleveland erstmals vereinigte, zogen sie eventuell dorthin zurück. 

Daraufhin gab es für uns eine Tour der Etage, es gab sehr viele Pausenräume und alternative Sitzplätze, sowie einen Meditationsraum. Am interessantesten war allerdings die kleine Ausstellung in einem der Zimmer, die sich dort zu Ehren eines Mädchens namens Minnie befindet. Das Ganze wird auch “Minnies Seaside Resort” genannt. Hier konnte man alte Schuhe, Kleider und Bücher sehen, alle in Verbindung und zu Ehren von Missionären, aus besonders dem asiatischen Kontinent. 

Mein Lieblingsstück in diesem Zimmer war eine chinesische Form der Bibel und eine Genehmigung für die Missionäre, die von dem damaligen amerikanischen Präsidenten unterschrieben worden war.

Auch das Essen war dort sehr gut, leider gab es aber nur Optionen mit Fleisch oder Vegan, also keine vegetarische für mich und damit keinen Käse auf meinem Wrap :(.

Direkt nach unserem Besuch bei der UCC sind wir dann zur “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” gelaufen, auch dort gab es viel zu sehen, neben der Ausstellung von Kleidungsstücken und Instrumenten berühmter Künstler, konnte man unter anderem auch selber Instrumente spielen und dabei berühmte Lieder lernen, bei einer Band mitspielen, in Mini Kinos Musikvideos/ Dokus anschauen oder eigene Sticker zu einer großen Sticker Wand hinzufügen.

Will und Wesley haben sich dann kurz nebenbei dazu entschieden eine Gitarre zu kaufen und ich habe mir zwei Pins für meinen Rucksack besorgt.

Außerdem wollte Wesley bei der Band mitspielen allerdings kamen dann, wie die anderen sie nannten, “Frat Boys” vorbei und haben sich vor alle gedrängelt, er ist also nicht mehr dran gekommen, kurz danach sind wir auch wieder zurück in unsere Unterkünfte gefahren.

Wir hatten uns Essen bestellt und nachdem das angekommen und verspeist war, machten wir uns auf den Weg an den Strand, wo wir dann auch unsere Andacht hielten. Erst dachte ich es wäre schon zu kalt zum Schwimmen, aber es war doch noch sehr angenehm und wir hatten alle viel Spaß, ich freue mich auch schon besonders auf morgen!

On Wednesday July 23 we started the morning at the UCC national office! Funny enough not only are we the first generation to go to Cleveland Ohio, but we are also the first generation out of young ambassadors to visit the national office!  We were warmly welcomed and throughout our visit we were introduced to many important members of the office, given a tour of the beautiful office space, learned a lot about UCC history and of course ate a wonderful lunch that the German group declared “this is my favorite meal we’ve had so far!”My favorite part of the visit was meeting such an amazing woman, President Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson. She shared her experiences as president and also her experiences throughout UCC which I found so interesting! 

Throughout our journey of young ambassadors I have decided to collect patches and pins for my backpack to symbolize the places and experiences we have encountered! I was so excited when we were given free rain at the “swag shop” in the national office to pick out all of these cool pins that are now placed on my backpack!! 

After our visit at the offices we took a short walk over to the rock and roll hall of fame!! I was so excited to walk around with the group and see so much history in music! It was so interesting to

see what music taste the german partners and american partners shared! Me, Marie and Will all shared our love for Bon Jovi and found ourselves sitting in that exhibit a lot longer just singing along to the music!! 

With a little nap and some dinner, we headed to Edgewater beach where I personally continued to take a nap on the beach but other enjoyed swimming in the water or reading books in the sand! We also added a little twist to vespers tonight! With the leadership of Samira and Logan we shared prayers on the warm summer beach. It was a beautiful sunset and a great way to end our busy day! 

Previously on the weekend, Katarina told us about how shocked she was about the amount of oreo flavors we have… and I must say I agree with her! So we all decided to bring our favorite oreo flavors with us to Cleveland with the intentions to have a giant taste testing party! We all shared that experience together in the game room while we had some people playing pool, chess, or simply just talking! We are all excited to continue our adventure in Cleveland and of course to go to Cedar Point tomorrow!!
